The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in New Jersey, is the second proposed national class action race discrimination suit against A&F. The first suit was filed earlier this year in federal court in California.
The New Jersey suit alleges that A&F markets its products by selling a culture and lifestyle, which it calls the "Classic American Style."
"The catch is that 'Classic American' does not mean all Americans," said plaintiffs' attorney Sidney Gold. "Latino Americans, African Americans and Asian Americans do not fit the 'A&F look.'"
Attached to the lawsuit is a letter of determination from the Los Angeles office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, stating that the agency found cause to believe that a Latino man was denied a job due to his race.
"Evidence obtained during the course of the investigation revealed that Latinos and blacks, as a class, were denied permanent positions, denied assignments and treated in an unfair manner with regard to recruitment based on their race and national origin," the EEOC letter says.
Also attached to the suit are photographs showing group shots of store staffs around the country. Of the 167 employees pictured in the 18 photos, only one is black.

*sigh* I loved, loved, loved "Fame," and especially Leroy. Sad.

As you can see, we desperately need a new digital camera; however, even with the lower quality photos, we still think that she's pretty damn cute.
It's really not that there's nothing to write about, obviously. It's just that Ellie is the absolute center of the universe to me now, and I want to spend every minute I can with her.
She's doing great and growing like a weed. She laughed yesterday, and she's becoming much more alert and interactive, which is amazing. My dad is getting out of the hospital tomorrow, and though he's going to be heading to a rehab center to get some strength back, he should be home by Thanksgiving.
My husband is wonderful. I never knew I could love him so much more than I already did, but seeing him with Eleanor makes my heart melt, and it makes me cry at least once a day.
It's all good.

I always scoffed in my head at those people who swore that they didn't have a spare second in their day when they had a baby, thinking to myself, all babies do is sleep! And eat! And poop! How much time could that take up? HAH! I was on crack, I say. Crack.
If I'm not holding, feeding, rocking, changing, or putting the baby down for a nap, I'm attempting to achieve a modicum of personal hygiene, putting in the eight hundredth load of laundry, and/or trying not to starve to death or to die of dehydration. Oh, and then the pumping.
Ellie and I are working hard on breastfeeding, but we're still pretty challenged, which means that I am pumping like a fiend, and that takes up much more time than I had anticipated. It's great, because she's getting about 75% breastmilk and the rest formula, but wow, I've had to readjust my schedule.
It's all good, though. As is the fact that my dad is ready to be released from the ICU and that he will probably be home either this weekend or early next week. His birthday is tomorrow, so I'll probably be heading up to PA on Saturday to pay him another visit.
Anyway, Peanut is napping, so I'm going to shower. More later.
